Hospital time also underscores fundamental stupidity of makers/takers mindset. Athletic orderly has the strength to gently help my dad maneuver out of bed+get around. He says: "Body mechanics are important here." I make more money. Is my job any more important?

I spent a lot of time in hospital. I never met an orderly I didn't like and respect, I met a lot of burned out, straight up cruel nurses and doctors.

That does seem to be a universal issue. Add in subsidies/fees for longer stays and you get a hot mess of conflicting incentives, too.

yeah. In my case I definitely needed to be there. I even had to go back with a relapse after checking myself out after 2 1/2 month. Unbelievably nasty.

I'm sure it's true for a case like yours, but effectively taking people prisoner with unnecessary medical procedures seems to be common practice.

yes. Common. I was in Canada, incentives are different. They want you out if they can.

Yeah, that's its own kind of hair-raising as well. Seems like most incentive structures around health care are messed up. We can't even get it right in Norway, which says something.
