Polish people are casually racist in a way that would make even most Europeans blush. Not all, of course, but enough to leave a strong impression. Partisanship is fanatical; everyone is opinionated and barely anyone is a good listener.

Nazis are not needed, though. Extremism, whether Left, Right, Neoliberal or Catholic Conservative, is the Polish national sport.

In many ways, though, Poland is the Israel of Europe. It has values that are at odds with its neighbours, and despite the lack of military aggression everyone wants to throw it under the bus.

They got smashed by WW2 from every side, then left to rot under the Iron Curtain. Almost every older person I met in Poland showed some symptoms of PTSD.

Untreated PTSD leads to neglect & abuse of children leads to more severe issues leads to a country of fucked up people.

Now add in general economic depression and fucking the economy up a third time with the same neoliberal fire sale they pulled in Russia...

Every EU country that is now painting Poland in the White and Red of fervent nationalism played some recent part in backstabbing or screwing the place over. Why would they listen to you?
