A more interesting possibility is that IQ measures a cluster of traits up to a threshold, past which more factors are involved.

I know the approximate IQs of several friends of mine. Some proximates I can easily relate to, intellectually. Others feel entirely alien.

Feels like whatever is driving the performance of their intelligence is not, broadly speaking, the same as for me.

My hypothesis is it's not just normal trait variation, but the influx of additional factors - sort of disinhibitors for cognitive power.

IQ in particular. E.g. mentioned my empathy as being a peculiar multiplier for certain kinds of abilities. Tempted to agree.

The disinhibition only increases with meditation, especially certain kinds of practice. Hence the origin of siddhis, I'm guessing.

I suppose that's a rather different form of disinhibition, but yes, I'd guess so too.
Might also explain why scientific types seem to gain-

More openness; intelligence unshackles.

There is a strong tendency for paradigm shifts to be attributed to people who, in scientific circles, are seen as quite eccentric.
Those people would fit in as artist. By contrast, most artists seem to be insufficiently interested in abstract ideas to become scientists.
