There is a sort of popular idea that you can only really relate to people 2 SDs in either direction from you. 1 SD = 68th percentile.

So if you get past, say, 145 IQ (using the most popular IQ test, the WAIS), you can only relate to a fraction of a third of everyone.

I've skirted the boundary of "no patience for fools", but I have noticed that people even fractionally more intelligent lose it VERY fast.

At some point, people get annoyed at not being able to convey their thoughts. Communication practice of different kinds helps, but...

... high IQ people past that point also grow massively overrepresented in asperger's and other social disorders, so good luck with that.
