I don't know, parliamentary politics is an old tech and has done a very good job of protecting child abusers. C.f. Iceland, US, UK recently.

What I don't see mentioned as often is that law is in effect the more powerful *technology*, so long as it is backed by state/private power.

The law is code - people code - and is far more difficult to alter with lasting effect than any computer-based tech... for the moment.

The cascade might never stop. But, people are unpredictable. The tech might be entirely co-opted by govt., like the internet has been.

That may be the better of the available outcomes, lest there is a serious push to direct the code at the problems most in need of solving.

Some people imagine Grey Goo or Skynet. I imagine Alexa shuffling my assets around because of bogus-but-irreversible contracts. :)
