That's the first step. Once seen as sensations, thoughts eventually grow quiescent. Triggered sometimes by association, then quickly gone.

Thought triggers bellyaching anxiety (oft perceived as thought) triggers reflexive self-judgement (tightening of facial muscles) triggers...

But when perceived this way, it's sometimes so fucking funny that you can't help but laugh/snort/shake your head, and it breaks the pattern.

Thought felt as sensation doesn't particularly incite to further thought on its own. A cascade eventually reaches a definitive end point.
