Interoperability between contemplative systems is massive.
I think people overstate the downfall of contemplative Christianity, though...
Contemplative practices in other religions have degenerated just as much.
Except in monasteries & sects, which Christians also cleave to.

And the case for Buddhism's beneficient/compassionate characteristics is *MASSIVELY* overstated when comparied with its track record.

IMHO the problem with Christian contemplative traditions is that you need to contradict lot's of dogma to start making sense of them.

TBH it's simmilar with buddhist trads, but we can pick them apart easier in the west, away from the places where they are institutionalized
