Well, I suspect there's more to it than just the technique. I'm used to entering states like that after weeks regular meditation.

Or after a several hours long sitting on top of regular practice.
This was just there, almost right away.

Lots of potential causes. I did feel more enthusiastic about practicing than I have for a long time, though.

and that matters, yes. Still a good result on a new technique can lead to continuing.

It helps that it isn't boring. Having a young kid entails a lot of time spent bored. Too much. Makes sitting meditation demotivating.
For what its worth. Bored = restless (in my experience). Dissect the sensation of "boredom", you will soon see its impermanence 🧘♂️
