This obsession with ego in many supposedly advanced practitioners confuses me. Am I missing something? Perhaps.
It just seems so... petty.

If you assume even a minimum bit of sincerity in these kinds of situations, the person is having the exact opposite of an ego experience.

For some reason it seems particularly endemic with Buddhists, but I'm sure lots of spiritual teachers, seekers etc. in other branches do it.
