I am talking about people who asked me for help, gave me consent of their own volition. I didn't ask them to, they asked "what do I do?"

I didn't say it's appropriate, but that I can't think of something more useful to say.
That said, I think it depends greatly on context.

Sometimes people don't want advice, it's more like they want to know they have a choice.
So they ask, receive, do what they always wanted.
The logical conclusion of that line of thought is there aren't right choices, even if explicit goals are present. I don't think that's true.

If I meant "the person is a fool not to follow my advice", sure, but I don't think they are.
