Russian Revolution was boneheads advocating social justice. So was the Red Guard. There is a history of this sort of thing: left democide.

I have spoken with lefties who would put me in a reëducation camp in the name of social justice, but they have no route to real power

Naïve. Post trump backlash. That's what they said about the KKK after Obama, and now they run America.

The far right have a channel to power through mainstream right media. No element of the hard left have anything like that.

That's a fascist's way to power.
We have the blueprint from the Russian Revolution. The soil is ripe for something similar.

With Trump antagonizing a majority of the troops by siding with fascists, the neo-nazis and the leftists both have their bases covered now.

Until they can centralize and automate autonomous UAV/UCV deployment, they need soldiers to suppress revolt.
Soldiers might not play ball.

I thought that if it came to it cops would side with the fash but SF seems to show Team Fascist screwing that up

Yeah, but they lack the training to use their fancy military toys in a full-blown insurrection.

Seems safe-ish to bet on discipline if the federal administration is organized.
If it's a transitional government... good luck with that.
US military has its own factions, but nobody likes stupid leadership. I’d suggest they’d lobby for smart, sane, easy to deal with leaders.
Obama was liked because he just let them do the war stuff. Bush Senior was liked because he was good at the war stuff. They don’t much care?

That's, uh, bleak.
If Republicans can deploy the army domestically, we're already way past the point of no return.
