The odd thing is, I actually do believe in "the best person for the job". Who that is isn't always obvious.

I'm quite willing to take my chance with blind submissions, even at my age. Most people aren't.

Most overestimate their own ability to spot 'talent', 'skill', 'suitability'. Little willingness to challenge that arrogance in themselves.

I've noticed that people seem more reticent to test, the less skilled they actually are. Maybe most arrogance is a surface-level phenomenon.
