As far as I can tell, most recent updates have only made it less user-friendly as well. E.g. my feed is full of ads and obnoxious likes.

Facebook monetizes your personal information but adds user-friendly features constantly + has so many users it attracts by default.

Twitter can't even figure out I'm not a Polish finance student looking for an internship, despite seeing my whole timeline. Speaks volumes.

My follows reveal things about my personality that I'm prly not even aware of, that can be derived algorithmically. So do my RTs, likes etc.

In some ways I like that Twitter are so bad at data mining, but it's something of a mystery how they maintain that level of badness.
