Despite not having a degree, I spent 3 years teaching people with degrees how to write. My respect for a B.A. is less than zero.

World of difference between disciplines where you need to produce results to get your paper and ones where you can just write "well", yeah.

A B.A. is good, if you went into it wanting the knowledge it can actually offer. Most people don't.

I mean, theoretically it's good. But you could also get mediocre profs peddling their own books, and be better off just reading for fun...

There's are advantages to properly constructed curriculums and guidance that autodidacts miss. I say that as an autodidact's autodidact.

Agreed. My point was that many unis are so myopic, I strongly doubt their curriculums are "properly constructed". Shows under stress.
