The sort of petty, mean-spirited anger people often feel is rather useless, but there are many situations where you really ought to get mad.

i've always given my anger free reign, and often paid the price for it - cheaper than repression from mental health perspective

Yeah, I'm not sure if "fire away" is any less problematic (except as you say for mental health), but I've definitely been too lenient.

Getting mad doesn't the necessitate *acting* mad, but it does often show you where the problem is.
