Read Andrew Greeley's "Cardinal Virtues" again. Huge indictment of the American Catholic Church + depiction of a near ideal priest.

Greeley had a newspaper column at one point, one of his last columns was on Greed as a mortal sin. Lot of Christians forget that.

Hard to overstate how much Greeley hated and despised Opus Dei and other Catholic conservatives. I think he considered them un-Christian.
