One of my universal experiences is that most professionals are actually incompetent.

I call it being a trained monkey. They have rule based functioning in their discipline, but don't understand the reasons behind the rules.

This is why the top 20% are 10X better than the bottom 80%. And the top 2% are 10x better than the bottom 98%.

You run into a professional in the top 2% or so - or the top .2%, and it's like they're magicians. They solve problems no one else can.

This is one reason I don't believe that "teams" can always replace geniuses/talents. Not for the actual hard stuff.

Mmh. Teams mostly seem to exist to create diffusion of responsibilty. Why anyone would want that, though...
