Stoicism appears to me to be an enlightenment vehicle, much like classical Epicurianism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoicism

Plato talked a good talk, but it seems more likely Socrates was enlightened. Diogenes, though, turned not giving a fuck into an art form.
