I've been thinking this is the most likely trajectory. Trump is all venality and corruption, but I doubt he's commited to autocracy.

As far as I can tell, most autocrats have not been Trump's particular brand of narcissist. He's after something different than that.
This is about Brand Trump. Being the most powerful man in the world, being the "best" president ever. He will want to deliver.
