Here in Poland it seems to me like people have an unhealthy obsession with shame. Everything is shameful. But ppl here rarely feel guilty.

Nobody thinks twice about breaking the speed limit and recklessly endangering others, but being looked down on by anyone? Intolerable!

I suspect they feel similarly about my cultural background. Shame bothers me little - who cares what anyone thinks? - but guilt is a problem
