Lying to Americans about their standard of living is an art form that has been perfected by decades of snot-eating scum.

US salaries exceed practically every country in Europe. Even high-level salaries in Norway can barely compete with entry-level corporate salaries in the US.
Good thing you see almost all of this money go into expenses and liabilities for every single aspect of your life, then.

US produces more waste than any other country.
US wastes more public money on bullshit private "solutions" (rent-seeking devices for private interests) than any other country in the world.
US costs of living increase faster than any country not ruled by a third-rate dictator.

The US could, should, would be the richest country in the world by a mile. Is, in terms of raw financial clout.
The idea that this trickles down to the avg. US citizen and that US quality of life exceeds all others, though, you'd have to be a first-rate idiot to believe.

The main advantage I could see to living in the US vs. Europe is that there are certain topics that are handled in the US at a fairly unsophisticated level, that are yet almost absent from European thought.

For example, while Europe is both rich and powerful enough by now to make its own alliances and strengthen its own union, most EU countries would rather remain US satrapies.
The slave mentality this implies is pervasive in many aspects of European culture.

We blame the Americans for getting us into new wars, for leveling unfair "treaties" on us, for running roughshod over our domestic politics.
Do we build out our own militaries, make our own decisions, utilize our own advantages? No, that would require too much courage.

EU standard of living, which is indeed higher than US in aggregate in its richer countries, is *maintained* by US trade hegemony, by petrodollar supremacy, US military power...
It's actually extremely embarrassing for the US that they can't manage to do better than the EU here.
