The George Monbiots and Naomi Kleins of this world are transparently disingenuous for the simple reason that they continue to have careers doing what they do, paid by the people who pay them.
This is a very straightforward heuristic, with very few exceptions.

Unfortunately, this also applies to <famous people you trust>, whoever that may be.
It's very rare to see anyone escaping the machine. Not unheard of, of course, but rare.

It's a heuristic that gets applied first to "people with bad opinions" i.e. people one dislikes. Even though it applies to anyone who isn't literally unemployed.
