Lotsa people love to talk how everybody should do like they do, but do you have any practices you'd never recommend? E.g. one of my ways to process beaten addictions (smoking, alcohol to some extent) is to have a try after months of abstinence and let disgust replace nostalgia.

My guess is this would be catastrophically bad for some recovered addicts, either with more addictive patterns or longer lasting addictions. It would be heinously irresponsible to recommend it. But for me, it's done wonders to gradually erase ideation & fixation from memory.

Bcuz doing like I did could work for you, but it could also be you're the sort of addict who can't, ever, go back, even for two seconds. This can wreck a life entirely. People make recommendations like this all the time, though, either in good faith or for conceited reasons.
