These paintings are not comparable without breaking down the very yardstick you were using to compare them. Art is not a school assignment, and this mindset is fundamentally misguided.

I know I'm sharing bait, but sometimes it's nice to be real for a second and not join the battle line you're being baited towards. This sort of attitude is incredibly irksome and the fuel behind art gallery pretentiousness i.e. the most noxious, fraudulent part of the art world.

If you want to make a commentary on stylistic differences, originality et al., have at it, by all means. Criticize away. As is, this is begging, begging, begging the question for the sake of controversy without substance.

It is a certain kind of creative act to transpose an original work into a different style, and a different creative act to define a style like Van Gogh. What is more important, originality or a specific kind of technical skill? According to whom? In what context? Why care?
