Lots of Americans are traumatized and pulled by their hooks, I think.
Can't see a better explanation for some of these reactions that border on religious hysteria.
"We've found a witch, may we burn her?" seems to be the mantra enabling all these spook wars in the media.

I was having an ordinary convo w a friend who knows I’m a republican, they suddenly asked me if I was voting and for who. When I responded they raged at me about voting for someone who wants to destroy the country, and then badgered me about the post office. It was bizarre.

Must be strange to live in a country where politics is plural effort to keep you naive and pliable and every group lives in its own pocket universe.
I talk to Americans of all cultural and political affiliations and the disagreement on base reality is total. No mediation. None.
It’s bizarre. It was not like this prior to Obama/Biden. That was the camel’s nose under the tent.

For me as a foreigner, it was the Bush years and the War on Terror.
That was when the US grand narrative really seemed to crack, on the outside at least.
I think internally, you guys have some time lag relative to the rest of the globe.
