Interesting angle. I think we agree on this? I feel narcissism would be best conceived of as an empathy disorder. Not in a psychiatric sense, mind. Rather, as when ordinary empathy has been mangled by childhood experience into something in chronic pain, causing dissociation.

Yeah, as far as I can tell the best thing is to insist on the maximum (possible) level of honesty with oneself and others. That leaves one to figure out what honesty means, exactly, but is some sort of remedy to fixating on "the disorder" & other static introspective thinking.
