So something I've been arguing back and forth with about a few times is finally settling.
I wonder if, given the sheer amount of cultural narratives that are essentially psyops, there isn't something to the analysis that the total vilification of ambition is top-down.

"Power corrupts" may be true and correct for many contexts and still be used as a tool against anyone who would seek to improve anything.
This also gives rise to a lot of really extreme reactionary trends, "EAT THE RICH!" etc. - maybe just, say, break their power somewhat?

It's obviously dangerous and corrupting to invoke the Greater Good to justify any number of evil deeds, but you don't *have to* do that.
You can seek to make the right choices without putting yourself in the position of self-appointed savior.

I'd counter each person saving themselves is not enough; 70% of harmful pollutants are generated directly by corporations and will continue unstopped well past xx% (70%?) of individuals are on board; thus we need movements to push corps, to save corps from themselves.

Oh, but Michael, I don't mean to suggest we are going to get anything done by focusing on ourselves.
The entire point here is about the use of power.
Power doesn't have to go through the worst roads possible to achieve its aims, is what I'm saying. The worst necessary, maybe.
