So something I've been arguing back and forth with about a few times is finally settling.
I wonder if, given the sheer amount of cultural narratives that are essentially psyops, there isn't something to the analysis that the total vilification of ambition is top-down.

"Power corrupts" may be true and correct for many contexts and still be used as a tool against anyone who would seek to improve anything.
This also gives rise to a lot of really extreme reactionary trends, "EAT THE RICH!" etc. - maybe just, say, break their power somewhat?

It's obviously dangerous and corrupting to invoke the Greater Good to justify any number of evil deeds, but you don't *have to* do that.
You can seek to make the right choices without putting yourself in the position of self-appointed savior.
