The dominant social order has been one of neolib elites talking down at literally everyone else from their imaginary moral high horse.
The nationalists feed on this.
And now that you have your COVID legitimacy crisis around the prevailing IYIdiocracy, I would only expect that situation to deteriorate.
Unlike elsewhere, there hasn't been either A) a high emphasis on integration or B) major concessions to the nationalists to keep them sedated.
