It's strange what lurks behind the doors we make in our own minds. I don't know that *all* introverts are secretly traumatized extroverts, but that was certainly my brand of "introversion" for most of my life. If anything, I'm annoyingly extroverted, probably >=98th percentile.

Yeah, this makes a huge amount of sense. I started out fairly extrobishionistic, always sharing my thoughts and feelings. This was... very often not popular. It's still not popular in most circles I have access to. There is certainly no great benefit in being open to hostility.

I feel like the transition for me started when I found that the people I care about the most don't mind my extroverted side. And that many of the people I have around, who might mind, really shouldn't be part of my circle at all. "Just get better friends," sounds lame, yet...
