It's strange what lurks behind the doors we make in our own minds. I don't know that *all* introverts are secretly traumatized extroverts, but that was certainly my brand of "introversion" for most of my life. If anything, I'm annoyingly extroverted, probably >=98th percentile.

It's somewhat embarrassing that it's taken me the better part of 28 years on this planet to realize that I'm not "low energy introvert." Strange how quickly we can take someone's word for things we can simply falsify experimentally.

I feel like transitioning experiences like this are extremely overlooked compared with the boring-ass "why I changed my politics" takes etc. Changing an entire section of your world-interface can do you so much good whereas changing tribes is just a reset to a hedonic treadmill.

Also, with stuff like this you will always find breadcrumbs going way back. My worst depressive phases have been due to having too few friendships. I've constantly had a wider social circle than most self-declared introverts. I've never been slow to open up to people I like.
