I don't know the specifics of this case, but considering the Chernobyl fires recently, Fukushima etc., I wonder at the threat model of people who call nuclear energy safe. If e.g. the reactor has proper safeties and the waste disposal is sound seems rather academic. twitter.com/AutistLvsMatte

So much global energy infrastructure is in fossil fuels or doomsday devices that can poison the environment for generations if they are compromised. Hard to see how we're going to survive as a species with exponentially increasing energy consumption & this energy tech.
