Feeling like a lot of the discourse around gender, men in particular, is (mis)informed by certain modern trends. E.g. that there are more young men than ever living at home under the care of their parents, exposed to little to no real tangible social feedback.

The habits of the most obnoxious types, past the usual teenage stuff, are mostly a product of not getting hit for talking shit. You can go online and say almost anything to anyone, and there is almost no gradation between 0 consequences and criminal prosecution.

Flatmate's brother that I was tweeting about the other day was here in Warsaw looking for work. Couldn't handle being around other adults. "It's messy," "they're weird." Left to go home after three days. (He lives in a flat his mother owns, paid for by her.)

This little dipshit's idea of social interaction was to come into the kitchen and leer, scoff and chuckle at other people's behaviour. I say dipshit, but in a real sense he's also a victim. At legal adult age, he has no idea how to interact with people or take care of himself.

If his mother can't or won't take care of him some day, he will find no such mercy elsewhere. This is a terrible position to find yourself in.
