With regard to almost any topic, you're 3-5 books away from having a productive conversation with a foremost expert and quite possibly teaching him or her something new. And this compounds — forever

Yeah, and being an outsider and having something different to contribute is also worthwhile. People sometimes seem to believe you can only either go full "mansplain" and assume the expert knows nothing, or grovel in supplication. Quite a lot of room for engagement in-between!

For example, I do not get up at dawn's first light every morning and start crowing my lungs out. Still, I can have a crowing competition with a rooster and we'll both have loads of fun.
