I mean, yeah, COINTELPRO as per usual from the very start. All cops are bastards and so on. But I could see this boiling over waaaay past the intended effect.

This does not strike me as a moment when they can just send in the National Guard, kill a few protesters and call it a day. People are angry, hurting and unemployed because of the pandemic response. What else to do than riot in response?

Yeah. Tho it's easy to oppress people when they have something to lose. Half or more of those rioters are recently unemployed, and their tax dollars floating up. God knows how many friends and family are ill. This really is not a good time for feds to try to flex their muscles.
