This really is one of those topics where you can see people's political sensibilities filtering out their responses into some pretty absurd biases.
I think John Robb got this right a few years ago - taboos about violence towards women will probably phase out in a generation.
I'm not sure that will even be a negative thing, in terms of gendered violence.
Taboos seem to make people look away in denial with extreme prejudice.
