When you see the way people (ordinary people, not powerful organizations) treat the authors of actual solid journalistic work, it's no wonder the profession is flush with sociopathic hacks and useful idiots.
To say it's a thankless job is a massive understatement.

I sometimes wonder:
How many artists would be journalists or politicians if telling the truth without obfuscation didn't so often get you shot.
