pity. I didn't like anything beyond the Belgariad, but I liked that a lot.
Probably how good a person you are has nothing to do with how good a book you can write.
Would we be better off if they hadn't been allowed to write?

I remember having a huge argument with my previous therapist about that once.
He claimed that great writers of fiction must by definition have great character and insight into character.
I didn't perceive this to be true then, and still don't now. It's a pretty weird belief.

lots of writers are terrible people. The second part might have /some/ validity, but not the first.
