What specific practices have you done that you believe have increased your cognitive complexity?
For me I think the main one is long term high stakes deliberation, as it requires me to model and integrate many perspectives.

I spend a lot of time modeling people, in a sort of homebrew way I expect may be somewhat reminiscent of method acting or maybe criminal profiling.
I have some issues with ordinary affective empathy, so this is a very cognitively complex task for me.
This is a sort of obsessive activity carried over from childhood (insecure attachments & other family problems), but it's now more or less become a social multitool.

I think I am similar (but maybe too lesser degree).
I notice under stress / pressure I can drop affective empathy, and it saves a lot of energy, which can be important, but it's also kinda unpleasant.
Maybe everyone does this

Yeah, that's totally normal.
It's also very different.
Dropping affective empathy in high arousal states where you have hit peak affective load is one thing.
Not having much floating around in your system without deliberate effort or extreme circumstances is wholly another.
