Brits had two chances to elect Corbyn. They chose Johnson. Johnson is bungling the Coronavirus. It kills old people, who elected him. If he really bungles it, it could be millions and so far he's really bungling it. My sympathy is real, but limited. You did have two chances.

I think, to be fair, that social democrats have been totally unable to present a compelling election platform for decades now. It's kind of absurd, since social democratic govts have generally governed through prosperous years, but somehow they can't do elections right.

I'm genuinely not sure that's true. I think they voted for what they wanted: governments which were cruel to poor people. You can't make people who are evil vote for good, no matter how great your platform. These are evil people, who wanted evil and got it.

Eh. People are all of dubious moral standards, but some electorates are inarguably more sensible than others - but it's clear this is also context and time-bound. Norwegian electorate is not showing a lot of collective intelligence right now, for example.

I am not saying people aren't responsible. I'm saying I don't think they're suddenly going to start impressing me with rational choices.

I am fairly down on electoral democracy recently. It just seems obvious that countermeasures (ratfuckery and all the rest) are winning. It's like with IT - offense is being prioritized, and the result is extremely questionable levels of stability and integrity.

Yeah, just had an long convo with my sister who visits Norway often & has many friends there. She cited something about an eye doctor returning from vacation, come right on in & get back to work, also a cruise ship returning, no checks come on in everybody so it's now in Norway
