The more I learn about the Coronavirus, the nastier it looks. We'll be very lucky if this gets locked down, and we're going to need a vaccine ASAP.

Talking to people about this has me wondering how many are likely to die through sheer wishful thinking.

Mostly the same talking points about the flu killing more people, etc.
It's the wishful thinking of 'I don't want this to be my problem, so it won't be!'
Some amount of prep and precautions looks sufficient to survive w/very high probability, but if people won't consider it...

Yeah, I'm not sure. I've been just picking up what flows past, but I think I'll do a deep dive Monday or Tuesday. I read today that the size is small enough that most masks don't work, for example. (And I live with other people.)

So far most of the deaths are people with chronic health issues, old people and kids, right?
So we might both want to do some reading, for our own reasons...

numbers are hard to find, China's lying like crazy. Lot of medical personel have died.
Yeah, I don't know.
But masks aren't working.

Fair point about China. I don't trust their numbers. Heard Africa and most Asian hubs are also very light on labs to test cases, adding to the obfuscation.
My grandparents, who are old and frail, can easily go to the countryside and have well water + months' worth of food. But.
But I don't know that they could be convinced to go before it would be too late.
