Twitter becoming more and more like Facebook. Logging on to multiple notifications, 80% of which are 'look at this random content we found'.
Not nice.

Well, much of such can be avoided simply by using TweetDeck
Otherwise, checking to make sure you are seeing Latest tweets first helps
There's lots of things I use regular twitter for but reading the main timeline isn't generally one of them
