Conversation

Accidentally did my first meditation thread in a long while inside a conversation thread over here. Thanks for the prompt and for the Alexander Technique explainer.

There are constantly arising points of reference in consciousness; a sense of looking from, at. This from, at gives rise to "self", e.g. reflexive thought about you. "I am so and so," for example. The sense of looking out at the world from your eyes is another. Pretty gross.

A little addendum to all of that: You can view these exercises entirely dispassionately, as some sort of meta-awareness of consciousness, but - in practice there is often a not-inconsiderable amount of totally weird shit going on, because of how far it diverges from "normal".

I tend to have very little trust in the wider, impersonal significance of people's mystical experiences with meditation for that reason. There are many strange semantics in your consciousness that may be meaningful, but don't necessarily point to a Deep Universal Truth.
