Poland isn't a great place to be gay, but if anything it's unfairly penalized compare with more "Western" countries.
Białystok is a Nazi-infested shithole and the Catholic church is a pedo stronghold manufacturing moral panics to distract from its own vices, but that's one part.

The bigger joke with this map is all the non-Western countries that are safer than, say, Poland or the US, but deep purple or black.

Likewise, Poland most definitely has a racism problem, a corruption problem in the police etc., but the cops won't shoot you and you are very unlikely to be assaulted here.
Unlike, say, if you're a Pole living in the UK, where lynchings aren't unheard of...
