Suffuse awareness into the domain. What do the nailbeds feel like? The 1st digits, the 2nd, 3rd. Palms. Skin. bones. Warmth. Solidity. Liquidity. Sensation that changes with the breath. Pleasant or unpleasant.

Then look for the boundary between things.
Start small.
Where does the boundary between nailbeds and flesh begin? Between 1st and 2nd? ... between fingers resting on each other.

If the boundary disappears and sensation disappears, its said to have been sealed by Emptiness.
Stabilize it and explore the remaining surrounding boundaries.

Thank you! Is this realization the same as Insight that vipassana gets you? (studied very little, basically only concentration methods so v. surprised at how much body scanning stuff there is)

My history is basic, 3 characteristics were insights from vipassana; i learned this is mahamudra from Kagyu and the insight is Emptiness. It's more direct and drastic than 3C.

Haa tru.
Ok so vipassana gives you insight into three characteristics of existence: impermenace, no self, unsatisfactoryness.
The guide I wrote is for Mahamudra from the Kagyu tradition which gives direct experience into the insight of Emptiness.

I don't know how Buddhist philosophers break it down. I'd put Emptiness as more fundamental.
3C apply to phenomena. Emptiness applies to 3C, but the converse isnt true.
Anyway, this is what it seems like to me. I need some folks to compare notes with.
