Pretty sure out of all the people who got enlightened throughout history, only the absolute dumbest motherfuckers started exoteric religions.
The sensible ones all dual-classed or had the good sense to recognize that their realization had no utility in and of itself.

Scientist/mystic dual-classing is pretty common. (Newton etc.)
Politician also gets mixed in semi-frequently. (The eponymous philosopher-king, Roman emperors especially into Stoicism, Gandhi...)
