Trauma means everything from horrific child abuse to your dad making you mow the lawn for gas money. It means everything and nothing, just a signifier that the person talking about Trauma got the right kind of education

yes, absolutely, *and* there's still an important concept here we need a word for (open to suggestions). one key thing is that trauma has much less to do with how apparently horrifying an event is than with how helpless you felt during it

Yeah. Pretty much the definition of a traumatic event is something that puts you into a state of heightened arousal that doesn't dissipate.
People often denigrate the severity of your traumas, but this conflates Reason(tm) with phenomena that are almost purely somatic. Dumb.
'What do you mean the functional extensions of your neocortex and CNS aren't completely interchangable - are you even a human being???'
