I have exactly the opposite instinct. I expect evolutionary pressure to produce diversity as small players innovate to if an edge the big guys can't exploit. Both herbivores and predators come in all shapes and sizes.

Mono-cultures are inherently non-resilient. :D Yes, collapse is happening, but it has always been taking place, just unequally distributed. We only noticed it in the West, when it started to happen here.

Well, of course. If anything, it seems we are only experiencing this degree of collapse because of all the work that went into destabilizing emerging economies and foreign politics. Feedback cycles, + social rot from security apparatus bloat, offshoring & monopolization.
