I have exactly the opposite instinct. I expect evolutionary pressure to produce diversity as small players innovate to if an edge the big guys can't exploit. Both herbivores and predators come in all shapes and sizes.

Erasing those niches creates a monoculture that will collapse. Reality is fractal. There will always be differences in energy potential creating available niches for evolution to take place.
