I have exactly the opposite instinct. I expect evolutionary pressure to produce diversity as small players innovate to if an edge the big guys can't exploit. Both herbivores and predators come in all shapes and sizes.

We should expect technological convergence, in governance as in other fields. All countries are under similar evolutionary pressures. They will not become uniform, but to the degree they undergo the same selection they become more similar. twitter.com/smolfeelshaver…

China and US compete in same niche, so the partial convergence makes sense. But yeah, that tweet is a very early modernist take on evolutionary pressures. Practically Social Darwinism.

Erasing those niches creates a monoculture that will collapse. Reality is fractal. There will always be differences in energy potential creating available niches for evolution to take place.
